The maps and plans collection consists of approximately 1600 items, including 150 manuscript ones. It provides a wide overview of the cartography of Asia between the eighteenth and twentieth centuries.
Some items have been charted by MEP missionaries themselves. Others were simply used by the missionaries to find their way inside their mission area.
The large format items (higher than 60 cm) have been digitised and are available online.
